About Us
Hopetoun, Western Australia, has experienced fluctuations in the last few years. At the time of inception of this website, it had become a cosmopolitan community made of people who have retired here, traveled from other states or across the world to work at a new mine in the area, and some who simply liked the idea of living here. The population has increased dramatically in the last few years, (and since the announcement of the BHPBilliton mine closure on 21 January 2009 has decreased again) and land prices have increased accordingly. Some development has taken place to provide housing and education for new families. This website was born out of the desire to assist new people moving into town to settle in with relative ease. From the experience of many families who have relocated internationally to Hopetoun, we have learned that the time of moving can be challenging, it can be daunting, frustrating, exhilirating, upsetting, joyous - and everything in between!
Almost everyone who moves down here has been seeking information on the area. This website is the place where you can ask the questions that are on your mind before, during and after your move. This is the forum to make friends with people already living here - to find common ground and to make a connection. Children are also invited to join the forum to ask questions about schools, playgrounds and activities. Where appropriate their questions may be addressed by children that are already living here.
The attitude of the website is very POSITIVE! If you have had a great experience in a local store or event - this is the forum to sing their praises. If you have constructive criticism, it would be preferable to send you comments directly to the person or organisation concerned.
