Mine Closing
"Yesterday will remain a day in our memory for many years to come. When the news of the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation closing was released, calls and visits from newspapers, radio stations and television stations came rushing into town!
Our thoughts are with all who have lost their jobs, had dreams of living and working in Hopetoun doused and those who are facing challenging decisions. Much of what I have learnt as a LifeSuccess coach, from working with Bob Proctor and with my other mentors, has taught me that it is times like these that really show our true colours. We have the choice as to how we respond to these events. We can choose to feel like a victim - to be angry with the economy, with the mining conglomerate, with the world. Or we can choose to see it as just an event - not good, not bad - it just happened. We can also choose to know that there is a greater plan for us - and perhaps this event is preparing us to recognise the next opportunity which is likely to be the most prosperous, fun and fulfilling opportunity of our lives. Many great people have told stories of testing events that have preceeded miraculous events."
Jill Hutchison LifeSuccess Coach
The following quote seemed appropriate for the changes that are happening in Hopetoun, with the closing of the Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation:
"One day a man was in his backyard and noticed, on a tree limb, a butterfly emerging from is cocoon. he watched that little being struggle and strain and press up against the walls of its prison. The buttterfly was having such a difficult time ad th man wanted to help, so he swaed off the tree branch and brought it into his house. He used a pair of very fine scissors to delicately clip the cocoon and creat an opening for the butterfly. Sure enough, the butterfly emerged easily. Then as the man looked on in horror, it flopped around on the table, unable to lift its wings. Within a short time the butterfly died. The man knew he must somehow have interfered with nature, and so he went to the lirary to do some research on butterflies. He learned that as it emerges from its cocoon, the butterfly stretches and strains, which pumps fluid from its large body into the wings. This process strengthens the wings and shrinks the body. Without that struggle, the butterfly emerges with weak wings and an unwieldly body, and cannot survive. This is our own life process as well. We emerge from a chrysalis state to become our real, divine selves. We may fear the struggle and wish to remain safe little caterpillars, yet the ore we open, the greater our rewards. For us it's not a single experience. No one can cut open your cocoon for you because it is through the struggle that you develop the strength to fly free."

Last weekend was very busy and fun! Starting with Surf awareness, then Jo Bolton's Suitcase circus presenting the Hopetoun Children's Circus and Paddy's Market in the park. The pony rides were very popular, as was the donut stand! Everyone was full of fairy floss, kids went home clutching show bags, and there was just enough time for a nanna-nap before the Springdale Concert!

The Jay Weston concert at Springdale was simply awesome. Performances of this calibre are normally only seen in main centres, so it was a real treat to have him here in the Ravensthorpe Shire region! Hopetoun swimming lessons are underway and flow through to Friday.
